Nixor College Foundation Program
Academic Counseling
Academic rigor is baked into Nixor’s policies from the outset. The Nixor College Foundation Program encourages an independent work ethic and by and large prohibits private tuitions. The onus falls on the student to devote time and energy to self-study, participate fully in class, seek extra help from teachers, teaching assistants and their peers as needed. Enforcing minimum mandatory attendance requirements and high standards of participation, Nixor encourages and supports students to achieve their personal best.
Regular and consistent attendance, participation and effort are stressed throughout the academic year. The Academic counselors at Nixor College Foundation Program monitor student participation and performance, advise on appropriate subject choices, and support students to improve.
Academic counselors provide guidance and support to students throughout the school year for the following:
o Make appropriate course selection according to aptitude, pre-requisites, and career aspirations
o Meet expected standards of class attendance and participation
o Maintain academic discipline
o Identify teaching assistants as appropriate
o Facilitate communication with the teachers
o Counsel students to balance academic commitment with ECA involvement
o Identify students achieving academic excellence (GPA 4.0) for the Dean’s List
o Provide feedback to parents on academic progress
